meet The DERRIck cole band

Derrick Cole

Lead Vocals / Lead Guitar

I was born in Nashville and raised in New Johnsonville, Tennessee, where music has always been a part of my life. I started playing drums in my dad’s lap at just 2 years old and picked up the guitar by the time I was 12. I’ve been playing professionally since 2009 as a lead guitarist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. In 2015, I started my own project and have been fortunate to open for artists like the Kentucky Headhunters, Eddie Montgomery, Big & Rich, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Daryl Worley, Diamond Rio, Randy Houser, Wade Hayes, T. Graham Brown, and many others throughout my career. I come from a long line of musicians with professional careers of their own, and I’m proud to carry on that tradition—sharing the stage these days with great musicians and even better people.

Anthony Sims

Vocals / Guitar

Raised in New Johnsonville, Tennessee, I grew up in a musical home where some of my favorite memories were listening to my dad and his friends play and sing. I started playing drums at the age of 10 and picked up the guitar a year later. From an early age, I dreamed of performing professionally, and I’ve been fortunate to live that dream as a vocalist and rhythm guitarist—sharing the stage with some of the most talented musicians and vocalists in the industry.

Nick Laws

Drummer

Born and raised in McKenzie, Tennessee, I was surrounded by music from an early age—thanks to my dad, a musician himself, and countless weekends spent immersed in the sound. I developed an interest in drums at the age of three and received my first real kit by five. By 13, I was playing live shows and haven’t looked back since. One of the greatest highlights of my career has been connecting with some of the most genuine and humble people in the industry—the kind of people you want around to keep you grounded.

Daryl Hornburger

Steel Guitar

Steel Born and raised in McEwen, Tennessee, I started out on bass guitar in my early childhood and moved to steel guitar around the age of 17. I had the honor of playing the Grand Ole Opry for the first time at 18, and by 21, I was performing professionally with Faron Young. Over the next 20 to 30 years, I played with Faron, Jim Ed Brown, Eddie Raven, Jack Greene, Jeannie Seely, and numerous others. I was also a staff musician at the Grand Ole Opry for over two decades. Music has been my lifelong love, and it’s a true pleasure to share the stage with this incredible group of musicians.

Robby Sims

Mandolin

Raised in New Johnsonville and now living on a small cattle farm in McEwen, Tennessee with my wife and three daughters, I come from the same musical family as my younger brother, Anthony Sims. While music was always around, it wasn’t until after my rodeo days—and the birth of my children—that I felt the pull to pick up an instrument and start playing. I consider it a true privilege to share the stage with some of the most talented musicians—and even better people—in the business.

Jeff Allen

Bass guitar / vocals

I was born in Middletown, Ohio, and raised in Bradenton, Florida. Growing up in a musical family, I started playing drums professionally at just 11 years old. I switched to bass at 18 and have been holding down the low end ever since. As a vocalist and harmony singer, I’ve been honored to play with legends like the Bellamy Brothers, Waylon Jennings, Shenandoah, and Joey + Rory, and I’m grateful to continue sharing the stage with some of the most talented musicians in the industry.
